Golden Sower Info

The "Golden Sower Award" is Nebraska's annual Children's Choice book award.

Each year, the Nebraska Golden Sower Committee nominates 10 books in 3 different categories for children to read. If students read at least 4 of the 10 books in a category, they qualify to vote for their favorite book. Voting takes place in our library in April of each year, and only students may vote (no adults)!

For students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade, all 10 titles will be read during our class time together. Students in 4th and 5th grade may choose to participate by reading or listening to the books independently and taking short book quizzes.

*Note: For 2022-23, there are 11 Chapter Book nominees. Students in 4th and 5th grade may choose to read ANY of the nominees. They are invited to vote if they have read any 4 of the nominees.

Golden Sower Quiz Bowl Competition: Students in 4th and 5th grades who challenge themselves to read at least 7 titles by January will be invited to join a team to participate in our MPS Golden Sower Quiz Bowl.
